Tented Accommodation | Amakhala Game Reserve

Welcome to Woodbury Tented Camp!

One of the hidden jewels of the Eastern Cape, Woodbury Tented Camp is is a 3-star tented camp on the malaria-free Amakhala Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. This intimate, family-run camp is tucked into a forested hillside overlooking the ancient floodplain of the Bushman's River, providing an authentic and personalized African safari experience.

Woodbury Tented Camp consists of ten comfortable en-suite tents on raised bases, each with its own private deck. Each tent has king-size or twin beds at your request, along with hot water, electricity, and all the amenities required to make your stay comfortable.

Camp life is centered around the thatch and canvas dining and lounge area, with it’s expansive deck overlooking the Woodbury plains and waterhole. A wide variety of wildlife such as zebra, giraffe, buffalo and elephant are often seen from this vantage point, while the haunting call of the African Fish Eagle echoes across the valley.

Join the camp's friendly and professional field guides on two game drives per day, as they go in search of the Big Five and a wide variety of African flora and fauna. Soak up the sun between drives while lazing on a recliner next to the pool; enjoy high tea of freshly baked cakes, before venturing out onto the reserve on your next expedition. In the evenings, have a drink around the crackling boma fire under the breathtaking African skies as you relive the day's adventures.

For guests who are excited by the prospect of a safari on Amakhala Game Reserve but may prefer the traditional stone-and-thatch lodgings, take a look at our other accommodation in the Woodbury portfolio, four-star Woodbury Lodge.
